Today I’m writing to let you know that you don’t have to be a walking display of your résumé. I encountered someone at work that did make me feel like I was less than them because of the position or the title that I hold. They have a very respected job title. I mean it’s medicine. Everybody respects black nurses, but I was so offended by our encounter. I realized that you don’t have to be a walking billboard of your résumé to show you that you can make noise in spaces and in any position if you are who you say you are. That’s if you believe that you are the woman or man that you claim to be. Then being beneath your résumé shouldn’t really be a demeaning moment for you. If you feel like you got to go somewhere where your growth needs you to be then why are you so easily put off of the idea of that job or that predicament? You still feel like you have something to prove today whatever you think you have to prove to her or them isn’t worse than missing the growth, the healing, or the lesson in your current position. Sometimes we never get what we should get out of things, because we are too busy on where we should be or what we should’ve been by now. Right now life is reminding you to be a small person and still do a big thing. I learned it doesn’t matter where you are your light radiates in any position you, dominate any level, and you shift atmosphere wherever you’re at!! I can’t express how it’s beautiful being black, bold, and beautiful because I know what it feels like to be small and miniature. I think I have the lowest paid position at my job yet I feel the energy of my presence. I feel how the way I walk causes discomfort and the way my joy reminds people of their lack there of. I’m just happy to commute and be amongst people and provide a service they can’t give themselves. I also want to say that sometimes people just will never give you their respect and you have to pop out and show the world that you are that!! However, not every action deserves a reaction. Be confident in the person you have allowed yourself to develop into. I want to also say this isn’t me to tell you not expand that work resume!! Do more, grow more, learn more, explore more, but expand your inner resume to a place they have to see more of you! Your resume gets you your job how you show up and perform keeps you there!
What’s on your Inner Résumé?
Here’s my love and I qualified in your eyes?
