Being a southern girl is a way of life. How we talk, how we walk, how we look, and how we live is just different. One day I learned it was way too different. One day in work I notice new people moving into our area some I’ve seen some I didn’t think anything into it. Then one day there was a new face. An extremely new face that made me stare and at this job I couldn’t stare and if anything show interest because it wasn’t something they agreed with. The crazy part is he sat beside me, but work Calls and I have to go. My two busiest work days go by and my work Buddy introduces him in the funniest way and I look over and he looked like yeah it’s true that’s me and I laughed because she’s so funny it really tickled me. I then introduce myself y’all why this man say hey and start back typing. So I did the same he wasn’t the only that could start typing again, but I continued to glance at him cause he peeked my interest. I’m like this won’t happen, but getting to know him Would be fine. Right? I wanted all the rules to go away so I can really get to know him, but they can’t.. So I asked crazy questions to see if he would take that chance and one question had him like “Ayye yo, chill” and it caught him off guard. Even after that question he still chooses to indulge in our conversations him not knowing, maybe he did, that i was plotting on him. I swear everyday talking to him made me want to know more. It was peaceful no mess no bs just conversation and laughter. Too much laughter at times causing lookers, but I didn’t care I was in a frenzy. The issue with all this is I wasn’t sure if he was interested, because I was scared of the rejection and him getting in trouble. I also detoured myself on the mission because the things he showed interest in was nothing like me and I honestly got scared. My insecurities got the best of me to the point where, I decided this was just a work flirt. The thing that drew me in more and more were our conversations especially about children and his culture I was sold!! Now before y’all assume I just didn’t want to have a fling with a POS OK! Then one day he switched desk and that solidified that this was just a work flirt and I was like, “Dang what I do?”. Although, I did continue our conversations so it wouldn’t be obvious I’m not as engaged  because I was pretty bummed about the situation. But one I asked what did it mean by “Take a spin on the cyclone” he explained this was a known ride in New York. So proceed to ask, “So can I take a ride on the cyclone?” My knowing a cyclone is a one-eyed monster and we laughed and gave a look and he asked if I was serious I’m like well yeah! He wrote his number down… I still didn’t know what to say I don’t know why I’m like this, but what I knew is that I was serious.
